Vale Russell Turner

With great sadness we received the news that Russell Turner, NHP’s former Director of Quality, Engineering & Manufacturing, passed away on Saturday 9th February 2019. Russell retired from professional employment in September 2010 after 33 years of invaluable service to NHP.

From the late 1970s through to his retirement, Russell was instrumental in the selection and growth of NHP’s product range as well as implementing training programs and product selection criteria that are still in use within NHP today.

Russell’s profound influence expanded far beyond NHP, impacting the industry locally and globally. He was involved in the development of local Australian standards series such as the AS 60947, AS 3439 and AS 3000. For over 20 years, Russell represented Australia on the IEC committee responsible for the switchgear standards and was actively involved as recently as December 2018. His contribution was formally recognised in 2011 when he received the International Electrotechnical Commission 1906 Award, honouring those who have made an exceptional technical contribution to the development of a specific IEC work project.

The NHP of today has a rich history borne by those who came before us. Russell Turner contributed to the foundations of our organisation, shaped industry standards and mentored fellow engineers – a reputation that will forever be etched in the history books. Vale Russell Turner.
